Whats the difference between a post and a blog?

Thats not a joke by the way, more a genuine question. So ive been doing a lot of work lately, a lot of music stuff and a lot of designing, and a lot of posing. I finally got a new mac which is sweet and i updated all my graphics programs. Ive moved completely over to illustrator from photoshop which in essence means im better than 90% of the population.

In other news, I tried watching Cloverfield last week also and got through 10 minutes, then felt sick. I applaud the concept but sometimes what looks good on paper doesnt necessarily mean it will work in actuality. As a movie it sucked. As a concept it ruled. I also watched Juno, and realised that so called hip anti mainstream indie movies are now as predictable as their dumb action movie counterparts. People automatically think that if they watch an indie movie it means they are cooler or somehow more intelligent than someone watching Die Hard, but its just as formulaic.

Meandering spoken word, slightly out of key, lo fi acoustic fey music with lyrics that dont rhyme - check,
Part live action, part kooky animated drawing titles - check,
Overly worldly wise dialogue from someone you know is way too young to say it - check,
References to things from people way to young to get them - check
Basic existential musings and schoolyard social commentary - check,
Cameo from an A lister - check,
Paul Giamatti, Jason Bateman or the other guy with a beard thats in every indie movie - check
Surrealist opening sequence featuring something where it shouldnt be - check
Self aware, sarcastic voice over - check
An air of smug self superiority running through everything - check

Thats pretty much all i could think about whilst watching Juno. That and how theres no way a 16 year old chick would be banging on about Iggy Pop. I may be citing stereotypes here, but why dont we try Paramore. Every device used was as utterly predictable as Jason Statham not pulling off an american accent. But, hey, if you reference that rather than Timecop, people will think you're way cooler. Unless you are talking to me, when the Timecop reference would make me want to marry you.

I also saw Boomer from Battlestar Galactica the other day in Blockbuster, and made small talk with her while i tried to be cool, holding an Empire Strikes Back framed poster.

Ok, thats all for now. Like i said on the LPS blog, lots of big news coming very soon, ive been working on something tasty, so stay frosty.

i thought juno was cool. the typical 'I use teenager slang and get pregnant and have fun, because I can'-girl. i loved it. well.. since you're neither a teenager anymore nor a parent, you cant critizise a movie, made for either teenagers or parents, because you dont know what they're talking about. (but probably i'm just making up some wise stuff just because i feel like making up smart sounding stuff to sound smart..)

however.. i love the blog thingy you are doing from now on. it always makes my day =3 sometimes your words sound too adorable to be true.

peace.
love.

Ha! Yes, I haaaate illustrator!
Love Photoshop.

And I couldn't watch Cloverfield, the shaky camera thing was bugging the shit out of me but I loved Juno.
She was so funny!

see, i did enjoy juno. if only because it was a refreshing change of pace from the drivel i've been to see OTHER than that recently. formulaic, sure, but then i'm not entirely convinced that there's a whole heap of originality left anywhere (moviewise, but then). which is why i wasn't surprised to learn (from imdb but eh) that michael bay is lined up as producer on friday the 13th and nightmare on elm street. since clearly they both need remaking. what?!

i couldn't bring myself to watch cloverfield, though. the trailers made me feel as queasy as the ones for jumper did, so no. if i can't get through 3 minutes, i figure 90 will probably kill me.

sorry indie movie scene, i love you but no.

illustrator is brill!

and i think a blog is the collective term for posts, like a gaggle of geese, but electronic (and words)

You do realize you'll now be unindated with messages from girls trying to reference Timecop like they know what they're talking about in the hopes of a marriage proposal?

Had I not already decided to avoid Juno like a new outbreak of the plague, I think that would have convinced me. You just know that when a movie gets "critical acclaim" that I will critically acclaim that it will suck... well, except American Beauty, that film rocks!

Did you buy the Empire Strikes Back framed poster?

Cloverfield is amazing! :o
The first 10 mintutes i'll admit isn't really good because you don'tget what's going on but once the attack starts it get's really good!

As for juno what I don't get is how it made people cry.

Wow!! im shocked, i really didnt think you would do another blog so fast lol!! But still totally agreed about juno, i went to the cinema with my little cousin because she was dying to see it, i wanted to walk out after 30 mins! cant say ive got round to seeing cloverfeild yet, really want to but not too sure now if you couldnt watch more than 10 mins of it =P
So, if your blogging everyday will you be reading all of your comments too?!?!
I would make reference to timecop but a) havent seen it in years and b) wouldnt actually want to marry you lol

To be totally honest I adore Ellen Page in Juno, she's not a typical female teenager, You know, the 'I love pink' kind. Blah. The only part of that film i hated is the acting of the father of her baby, i don't even care for his name he was that bad. And he was in that Superbad film too, also disgusting.

Anywomb.

I thought your new album was coming out in Autumn?! I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere because since I read it I've been counting down the days and been heartbreakingly dissapointed.

Any chance you could give me a closer to date so I can officially be there on the day, to collect the masterpiece which is Lostprophets new album?

Cheers, x

nice read whilst eating my super noodles...
i quote from your blog
"People automatically think that if they watch an indie movie it means they are cooler or somehow more intelligent than someone watching Die Hard, but its just as formulaic."
and that made my day.
one of my very best friends is just like that and can make me feel like shit when she goes on about all her shit like that.
also, if you hated the first 10 minutes of Cloverfield i'm glad you didn't pay to see it in the cinema because the ending sucked...
but yeah... i'm putting off revision and i think i really need to crack on if i want to get a grade higher than a U!

I got used to cloverfield after a bit, but the juno thing I have to agree with. I tried to enjoy it though and i suppose you can, it just felt all very smug.

Also, you can do a post on your blog, but people usually call a post a blog as in i just wrote a new blog.

this made me laugh... that really is stereotyping, so by saying that you issue a statement that because of how young someone is, they cant like that kinda stuff... just take Ilan for example, he is what... 19 and yet one of his favorite bands is Led Zeppelin, who formed 40 years ago i think that my point pretty much speaks for itself on that matter.
overall i think that the movie was pretty good, quite funny. not something that most teenage 16 year olds go through.

updates were much needed.

Ha, the Juno summary is so true.

I thought it just...witty; modern, younger, more out-of-touch Pride and Prejudice with much less subtelty.

Basically, my mind focused on the words "Jason Statham" throughout a lot of this...he. He is boss. Although, the assumption that he was Australian must have been terribly wrong on my part. Wow, no good with accents. At all.

Oh. I saw one of the videos while you guys were in...San Diego was it? In a room, making a blog video? And there was a brief recount/commentary on your previous albums...

You should count with your fingers more often.

All i have to say is, that the only movie i'll ever agree with you on is transformers.

btw, by saying you're better than 90% of the population, means you are one of the best 10%. which is every tenth person. kids cant design, grandpas either.. means you belong to a group every (let's say) fifth adult besongs to. which is not very special. now if you would say you belong to the best 0.0000001% of the population, thats much more impressive.. thats one out of 10 million..

xD just mentioning
