Someone asked me about the full ponty, in the comments on this thing, so i thought id just mention that. I dont know much about the details of why it was cancelled or whatever, but what i did hear was that the organisers wanted another line up like last year, contemporary bands, cool vibe etc, and the council wanted Tom Jones instead and possibly Donny Osmond. Make of that what you will. Ultimately i think the organisers wanted to turn it into a real festival, whereas the council wanted something they could go to with their elderly friends and something which wouldnt offend anyone with noisy kids and teenagers. Obviously dont quote me on that, cause im only repeating rumour, but it seems plausible.

doesn't surprise me! our local council stopped a new festival, similar to full ponty, starting up because of the impact on the environment. At the same time they encourage other outdoor events (for older people) in the area, like sheep and shooting festivals, so what is the difference between teenage impact on the environment and pensionable impact? knobheads.
they're spending all our money (and getting into debt) buliding themselves new offices too, but don't get me started on that one...

There might not be The full ponty this year, but apparently Pontypridd will be getting the delights of X-factor legend Rhydian Roberts ;)
Of course i am crying in my tea about the fact i wont be able to go and see him perform, because i will be busy... er... mowing my lawn :)

this year the line up includes meatloaf, dolly parton, pink, jay-z, massive attack, eric clapton and many more. (and rumors of metallica to be announced *intake of breath*)
and last year it had slayer and megadeath.
there is something there for everyone.
