Apologies

for not updating sooner, ive been mad busy with all the Made In Hell stuff. I'll do a proper update in a few, but i just wanted to give you guys the heads up. xxx

So the impromptour begins

Currently in Germany, just played Rock Im Park. Was pretty good, dont think a lot of people knew who we were, but we had fun. Last night played Amsterdam which is always a good show. Tomorrow we play Madrid, then Rock am Park, then we start on the UK warm up shows. We played a new song that we've never played live before and it went down well, got everyone singing along, cause no one likes to listen to a song they dont know first....;)

This secret thing ive been working on will be revealed next week too. BIG WEEEEK, GOOOOD TIMESSSS.

What to say about that? Why would we say it would be out 2007 when LT came out in 2007? You might wanna think before typing next time.


Because we are taking our time with an album rather than rushing it out, we are letting you down? I suppose you would like us to record any old shit and just put it out yeah? And i dont know where you are getting 3 years from, the last record came out July 06, our last show was August 07, its now june 08. So 2 years since the last record, and a year since our last show. Not 3. Im not releasing anything till im happy with it, so tough shit. And if thats not good enough then im sorry, but whatevs.

As for other stuff, the other thing ive been working on is almost ready, and i think im gonna tell all next week. Gooooood timessssss.

the closer i get to feeling, the further im feeling from alright

Its the morning in la, ive been up all night designing, more by choice than anything. I became overtired then my brain wouldnt shut off, so i thought id do something more productive. Now the question is, do i go to sleep and waste the day or tough it out and sleep tonight.

Flying back to the uk this weekend. Been working on the album and other secret things lots. Gonna be good times. X

sometimes words just come into my head and they stay there all day. Today it was the two words in the title.

I'm still working on lyrics and also putting the finishing touches to this idea ive been working on for a while. Not long and i'll be able to tell you all about it. Its frustrating though, like knowing the identity of superman but not being able to tell anybody. For now at least.

Back in the uk in a week for rehearsals and the warm up shows. Dont know whos stupid idea it was to only allow download ticket holders, but we found out too late. Suffice to say stuff like that wont happen in the future.

Apparently theres only one real crystal skull and even that may be a fake.

In the studio atm, the guys are tracking stuff, im doing lyrics and also working on something new and something special, non music related. All will be revealed soon.

Other than that, jamie tried to make out like that pic was photoshopped. Obvs not.

Fitness

Currently at the studio, working on arrangements. Jamie is buff now. He has been working out non stop after being in jail and not being able to leave the country. He is talking about entering bodybuilding events. Only problem is if he does he might have to choose between the band and looking like zeus, cause of the time it takes. We'll see......x

..had some cinnamon toast crunch, washed my face, cleaned my teeth, put on my clothes, checked my email, now about to leave for the studio and to go pick up my banksy painting. x

Lack of sleep

Someone asked me about the full ponty, in the comments on this thing, so i thought id just mention that. I dont know much about the details of why it was cancelled or whatever, but what i did hear was that the organisers wanted another line up like last year, contemporary bands, cool vibe etc, and the council wanted Tom Jones instead and possibly Donny Osmond. Make of that what you will. Ultimately i think the organisers wanted to turn it into a real festival, whereas the council wanted something they could go to with their elderly friends and something which wouldnt offend anyone with noisy kids and teenagers. Obviously dont quote me on that, cause im only repeating rumour, but it seems plausible.

worky workerson

So not only have i been writing lyrics, designing and blogging, but i've also almost finished a set of tees for download and the surrounding dates. Jamie was banging on about getting them done, so in a fit of frustration i decided to do the obvious, but not. I wont tell you anymore, cause that would ruin the suprise. But i like them. Ive completed two so far, with another few to go.

It seems a few people missed the point of my Juno commentary. Im not saying i hated the film, cause i sat through it and thought it was ok. My point was just that the way it was packaged and presented was totally predictable and it was meant to be something different. Which lead me to the point that now when you watch an 'indie' movie you pretty much know what its going to be like, in the same way you know what devices an action movie is going to use. The whole aesthetic of indie movies is now just as predictable as a Michael Bay one. Thats all i was saying. I didnt say it was a bad thing, just that the automatic higher plateau indie movies reside upon, is misguided.

I am in rehearsals at the moment. Everyone else has gone on the daily 2hr lunch break. I dont go because i usually wake up late, and have a massive bowl of cereal. So when i turn up late, im full, and then an hr later everyone breaks for lunch. So i stay in the room and either design, try to sort out my lyrics or write this blog. Today i also recieved a few skateboard decks that i ordered. A bunch of limited edition Creature decks, and some old school Powell and Santa Cruz ones. They are nice.

Evolution without the R isn't evolution at all.

Whats the difference between a post and a blog?

Thats not a joke by the way, more a genuine question. So ive been doing a lot of work lately, a lot of music stuff and a lot of designing, and a lot of posing. I finally got a new mac which is sweet and i updated all my graphics programs. Ive moved completely over to illustrator from photoshop which in essence means im better than 90% of the population.

In other news, I tried watching Cloverfield last week also and got through 10 minutes, then felt sick. I applaud the concept but sometimes what looks good on paper doesnt necessarily mean it will work in actuality. As a movie it sucked. As a concept it ruled. I also watched Juno, and realised that so called hip anti mainstream indie movies are now as predictable as their dumb action movie counterparts. People automatically think that if they watch an indie movie it means they are cooler or somehow more intelligent than someone watching Die Hard, but its just as formulaic.

Meandering spoken word, slightly out of key, lo fi acoustic fey music with lyrics that dont rhyme - check,
Part live action, part kooky animated drawing titles - check,
Overly worldly wise dialogue from someone you know is way too young to say it - check,
References to things from people way to young to get them - check
Basic existential musings and schoolyard social commentary - check,
Cameo from an A lister - check,
Paul Giamatti, Jason Bateman or the other guy with a beard thats in every indie movie - check
Surrealist opening sequence featuring something where it shouldnt be - check
Self aware, sarcastic voice over - check
An air of smug self superiority running through everything - check

Thats pretty much all i could think about whilst watching Juno. That and how theres no way a 16 year old chick would be banging on about Iggy Pop. I may be citing stereotypes here, but why dont we try Paramore. Every device used was as utterly predictable as Jason Statham not pulling off an american accent. But, hey, if you reference that rather than Timecop, people will think you're way cooler. Unless you are talking to me, when the Timecop reference would make me want to marry you.

I also saw Boomer from Battlestar Galactica the other day in Blockbuster, and made small talk with her while i tried to be cool, holding an Empire Strikes Back framed poster.
